INNOVATION
From Packaging to Pod
Here at QPOD™, we’ve been doing things a little differently since day one.
From the beginning, our foundation pods have been made from 100% recycled plastic — materials like discarded bottles, food containers, and offcuts from acoustic panels that would and could otherwise be sent straight to landfill.
And now? We’ve gone one step further.
We’ve made that journey even more visible.
Introducing the Clear Pod
When you look at one of our clear pods, you’re looking at recycled food packaging. You’re looking at something that might have been destined for landfill.
The thing is you don’t normally associate high-performance engineering with packaging built for fruit, but here it is — reborn, reframed, and ready to support a home, a school, a community building.
The clear pod lets you see what’s always been true about QPOD™:
We take the environmental impact of construction seriously — and we want to help you build with purpose.
The Full Rainbow of Recycling
While the clear pod is definitely one of our more eye-catching pods, not every QPOD™ comes out looking the same — and that’s entirely by design.
Because we’re using 100% recycled plastic, the colour of each pod depends on the dominant source material in the mix. One batch might lean green, another could have hints of blue, grey, or even a speckled swirl of it all. We’ve even had pods come out looking like a giant mint biscuit (we checked, and turns out their not edible).
So if your QPOD™ doesn’t match the cover of our cataloguem it’s not a flaw. It’s the story of what it used to be. And we reckon that adds a bit of character to your foundation.
The QPOD™ System: Zero Waste by Design
When it comes to colours we’re certainly not picky.
And that principle runs through our entire system.
There’s no offcut pile. No messy clean-up. No skips full of broken foam or unrecyclable fill. Every QPOD™ unit is modular, made from 100% recycled plastic, and designed to be installed completely — no waste, no leftovers, no landfill required.
We’re not claiming to have all the answers. But we are proving, day by day, site by site, that it’s absolutely possible to build smarter foundations — right here in New Zealand — that meet the mark on strength, performance, and compliance… without compromising the planet underneath them.
So What’s In Your Foundation?
Look, we get it — foundations aren’t exactly cocktail party conversation.
But maybe they should be.
Because every time you spec a QPOD™ system, you’re doing more than just holding up a building. You’re giving waste another shot. You’re cutting out landfill. You’re helping prove that recycled materials can do serious work — even if they used to be part of someone’s lunch.
We’re not saying you need to lose sleep over your foundation system. But if you’re building for the future, it’s worth asking:
What am I standing on?
And if the answer is a pod made from potentially something that was destined for landfill… well, we reckon that’s something to feel pretty good about.
