Sustainability Focus
Giving Autex A Second Life
At QPOD, we are committed to pushing the boudaries of what’s possible while staying true to our core value of sustainability. As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce our environmental footprint, we are excited to introduce a new initiative: the use of recycled Autex material in the production of our QPOD extenders.
What is Autex Material?
Autex will be a name familiar to many kiwis, and is a high-performance material made from recycled polyester fibres. Known for its exceptional acoustic properties, thermal insulation, and versatility, Autex is traditionally used in the construction and interior design industries for soundproofing and insulation. Over the years Autex has invested heavily in their own sustainability journeyand are part of the Living Product 50 (LP50) program, and more broadly have aligned their sustainability strategy with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. manufactured using recycled PET, making it an eco-friendly choice for a variety of applications.
Here at QPOD we’re excited to be able to repurpose this Autex material and to be able to breathe new life into what would otherwise be waste, transforming it into a critical component of our QPOD system.
Why Using Recycled Autex In Our Extenders Makes Sense
Sustainability
Here at QPOD we bake sustainability into everything we do, and offer a product that is not only made from 100% recycled materials, but is also 100% recyclable. It’s no secret that the construction industry is one of the largest consumers of resources globally, so by taking 100% recycled materials such as AUTEX and repurposing them, we’re focussed on helping to reduce the demand for virgin resources, decreasing waste, and contributing to a more circular economy.
Performance
Recycled Autex material is not only sustainable but also incredibly durable and performs exceptionally well from a structural perspective. Durability is always a key requirement for us here at QPOD, and something we rigorously test across our range of pods and accessories.
Ease of Use
One of the standout features of Autex material is its lightweight yet strong nature. When we first designed QPOD we wanted to design something that was lightweight to make installation a breeze, and by using recycled Autex in our extenders we’re helping to support this ideal. Despite being lightweight, the extenders maintain their structural integrity, providing robust support where it’s needed most.

In summary…
How We’re Closing the Loop
Incorporating Autex materials into our QPOD extenders is part of our broader strategy to minimise waste and promote sustainable building practices. By choosing materials that have already had a previous life, we are effectively closing the loop in our production process. This approach aligns with our goal to create products that not only serve the needs of today’s builders and architects but also contribute to a brighter, greener planet for future generations of New Zealanders.
